About Greyhounds

Greyhounds make a great family dog and are good with children. They are quirky, charming and long for a family to bond with and love. These dogs are extremely affectionate. Many Greyhounds get along with small dogs, cats, birds and other small pets. Some take to them immediately others take a little more time to make the adjustment. Greyhounds are hypo-allergenic with virtually no odor. They have no dander which makes them very clean dogs. They shed very little.

Greyhounds are retired from racing around 2-5 years of age. They are trained to run which is why they always need to be leashed when not in a fenced-in-yard. They don’t know the dangers of cars or traffic which can result in injury.

Greyhounds do well in fenced yards but consistent brisk walks daily will help maintain their good health. They don’t require a great amount of exercise.

Greyhounds have no body fat, therefore, they cannot tolerate extreme hot or cold. They are INSIDE dogs. Greyhounds are not hyperactive. On the contrary, they are 45-mile-an-hour couch potatoes! They are quiet dogs, most don’t even bark. They don’t need a large house and a large yard, just a big dog bed or your couch.
